2005 Storm Names & Their Meanings\
The following is a list of the names that being used for the Atlantic Coast and the meanings of those names. Some name meanings may vary in meaning according to the book you look it up in, but these are pretty basic meanings that I found for each. If you feel that the storms and their name meanings are a sign of what is in store, this may be helpful to you. Lists are recycled every six years. The 1999 list is being used again this year, 2005.
I listed whatever the factual information was regarding each name. In no way do I suggest that you should pursue looking up information regarding false gods because of Dennis being a derivative of that name. Seek the Lord, The Word of God and ask the Holy Spirit for revelation concerning it.
Interestingly, while scanning the lists for other areas, I discovered that in the Eastern North Pacific "Israel replaced Ismael in 2001." When looking up the meanings of the names, prophetically, it could read like this:
"Israel (Ruling with God) replaced Ismael (God listens) in 2001."
Arlene - Promise; (Can also be Charlene); feminine form of the Germanic name Karl, which was derived from a Germanic word which meant "man."
Bret - (french) Man of Brittany.
Cindy - From the Greek for "moon;" "woman from Kynthos."
Dennis - (french) from Dionysus, god of wine, revelry, fertility, dance and song; also affiliated with unpredictable or violent behavior; He wandered about teaching people how to tend to grapes and to make wine.
Emily - hardworking, ambitious; derived from Latin aemulus meaning "rival".
Floyd - old english: hollow; from a surname derived from Welsh llwyd meaning "grey".
Gert - esteemed warrior (female); Means "spear of strength", derived from the Germanic elements ger "spear" and þruþ "strength". This was the name of two famous 13th-century nuns.
Harvey - From the Old German for "battle." From a surname which was derived from the Breton first name Haerviu, which meant "battle worthy" from Breton haer "battle" and viu "worthy".
Irene - peace
Jose - Form of Joseph - from the Hebrew name Yoseph meaning "he will add".
Katrina - purity
Lee - glade; poet; meadow;
Maria - sorrow or bitterness; "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".
Nate - gift of God; Means "giver" in Hebrew. In the Old Testament this is the name of a prophet and also a son of King David.
Ophelia - help; Derived from Greek ophelos meaning "help".
Philippe - lover of horses; From the Greek name Philippos which means "friend of horses", composed of the elements philos "friend" and hippos "horse".
Rita - pearl; precious one
Stan - stoney field; From a surname meaning "stone clearing" in Old English.
Tammy - palm tree
Vince - victorious; from Latin vincere "to conquer".
Wilma - practical; feminine of William; from the Germanic name Wilhelm, which was composed of the elements wil "will, desire" and helm "helmet, protection".
